I am a Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering dept. and Head of the Center of Excellence in Human-Centered Computing. My research is at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction and Mobile & Ubiquitous Computing. My research takes a user-centered and participatory design approach to system building.

I have a strong publication record in the areas of HCI. My work consistently appears in the top HCI research venues like CHI, CSCW, WWW, VR, and ToCHI. I actively supervise PhD students. Our work won the Best Paper Award at ACM CHI’24.

My PhD students have received various industry fellowships, including highly competitive MSR, IBM, TCS, and, lately, Google. Graduated PhD students are faculty members in reputed academic institutions like IISc, IISER, etc., and top industries like Apple, MasterCard, etc.

National and International Funding agencies also recognize our research. I recently received a 1.4 Million USD grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and about 600,000 USD grant under the prestigious R01 calls by NIH-USA. Earlier, I received a capacity-building grant of about 148,000 Euros from EU-Erasmus+ to help establish the Center of Excellence in Human-Centered Computing. I also received $100,000 grant under the Global Grand Challenges from BMGF. Overall, I have received about 2.5 Million USD in grants as a principal investigator and about 3.25 million USD total at IIIT-Delhi for my research from various national and international agencies.
